About DimeCalc
DimeCalc is a collection of free personal-finance calculators built on a single principle: your financial data is nobody else's business.
Why every calculator runs in your browser
Open any tool on this site and the math happens locally, in your browser tab — the calculator works even if your internet drops after the page loads. Nothing you type (salary, debt, income) is ever sent to our servers, and nothing is stored. That's unusual in this corner of the web, and it's intentional.
Who's behind it
DimeCalc is built and maintained by a small independent team of developers and former financial-data analysts. We started it because every "free" calculator we used was quietly monetizing the sensitive numbers we typed into it. We wanted a version that didn't.
We're an open project: the calculation source is version-controlled and publicly reviewable on GitHub, so anyone can audit the math behind a tool rather than taking it on faith. Found a formula that looks wrong or a source that's stale? Open an issue or email us — we treat it like a bug and fix it, with the correction dated in the footer.
How we keep the numbers accurate
Each calculator lists its verification date and sources in the page footer — tax brackets referenced against IRS Revenue Procedures and the Tax Foundation's 2026 tables, Medicare figures against official CMS fact sheets, FICA parameters against SSA published figures, and market-rate references against public data (Fed G.19 for card rates, AAA for fuel). Where a figure can't be pinned to an official source, we say so rather than inventing it.
Our editorial approach
We publish a small number of long-form guides alongside the calculators. Each explains how its math works — the formula, a worked example, and the edge cases — so you can verify our work instead of taking it on faith. If a calculation involves judgment (like a tax estimate), we show the assumptions outright rather than burying them.
Legal & availability
DimeCalc is a free service funded by non-intrusive advertising. We never sell or share your data — there's none to sell. Contact via our contact page.
